Managing Monthly Direct Debits Efficiently
Creditor Identifier
For commercial direct debits, you need a Creditor Identifier. You provide this in your business banking as the sender identification for each collection.
Mandates
Protect yourself legally: A valid SEPA mandate is mandatory for subscriptions. Store the mandate reference and the signature date in your customer database.
Sequence Types
For subscriptions, you mostly use the 'RCUR' (Recurring) type. If a mandate hasn't been used for more than 36 months, it expires and must be obtained again.
Subscription Direct Debit FAQ
How do I automate monthly direct debits?
By exporting your monthly billing list from your CRM as Excel and using our tool to convert it into a pain.008 XML file for your bank.
What is the difference between CORE and B2B?
CORE is the standard procedure for private customers (Basic Direct Debit). B2B (Business-to-Business) is used between companies and has shorter deadlines but requires the mandate to be registered with the payer's bank.
How long is a SEPA mandate valid?
A SEPA mandate is generally valid indefinitely but expires automatically 36 months after the last direct debit occurred.
Can I choose the collection date freely?
Yes, you define the desired execution date in the pain.008 file. Please observe your bank's lead times.
What happens in case of a return debit?
A return debit is reported by the bank in a camt.054 or camt.053 report. You must then resolve the amount manually or collect it again.
