Collecting Fees Securely

Creditor Identifier

As a club, you need a Creditor Identifier (CI). In Germany, you apply for this at the Deutsche Bundesbank. This ID remains the same for your club permanently.

Mandates

Each member must provide a SEPA Direct Debit mandate. The mandate reference (e.g., the member number) must be uniquely assigned in your Excel list for each member.

Sequence Types

Use 'FRST' (First) for the very first collection from a new member and 'RCUR' (Recurring) for all subsequent regular fee payments.

Frequent Questions from Clubs

Do I need a separate Creditor ID for each club?

Yes, every legally independent association needs its own Creditor Identifier to be allowed to collect direct debits.

What do I do for new members (FRST)?

For the first collection, mark the sequence as 'FRST'. Our tool allows you to define this per row in your Excel file.

How often can I collect fees?

This depends on your statutes and the mandate granted (e.g., monthly, quarterly, or annually). Technically, there is no restriction by the pain.008 format.

Can different amounts be collected per member?

Yes, your Excel spreadsheet can have an individual amount for each member, which is then included in the bulk direct debit.

Is the mandate reference freely selectable?

Yes, but it must be unique within your club. Often, the member number is simply used for this purpose.
